Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul celebrated his 59th birthday on September 13 by expressing hopes for peace, unity, and prosperity across the nation. He acknowledged that this year’s milestone came with greater responsibilities but affirmed his determination to continue working without pause.
Anutin told reporters that his cabinet ministers had met to prepare the government’s policy statement under the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA), which requires parliament to be dissolved within four months. Drafts are being finalized so a letter can be submitted to the President of the National Assembly, enabling the government to deliver its policy statement promptly and begin work without delay.
The government has already identified several urgent measures, including reviving the “Half-Half” co-payment scheme, advancing steps to ease tensions with Cambodia, organizing a referendum on constitutional amendments, and implementing programs to address economic pressures.
Anutin said the government holds full authority to address border concerns and would exercise that authority as circumstances allow. On economic issues, he pointed to policies with proven public support, such as the co-payment scheme introduced under the previous administration, which he said continues to provide real benefits to citizens.
Anutin pledged to follow the MOA’s timeline closely, noting that preparing policies in advance and involving coalition partners would help ensure unity and avoid the divisions that troubled previous governments.
