The government has confirmed that residents in designated evacuation zones along the Thai–Cambodian border will not be charged for electricity and water bills for July and August. For households that already paid July bills, the amount will be automatically deducted from September charges. Those who recently received invoices for August will not need to make payments.
Government Spokesperson Jirayu Huangsab reported that over 60% of damaged houses in affected provinces have now been repaired. Of the 705 houses damaged by Cambodian attacks, more than 400 have been restored, with the remaining under repair. Most damages were categorized as minor, while 41 houses were destroyed and 65 severely damaged.
The Interior Ministry, local administrative organizations, the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, the Prime Minister’s Fund, the Thai Red Cross, and public donations are providing funding for repairs. Military units are also assisting in reconstruction efforts.
Jirayu reaffirmed that Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Phumtham Wechayachai has ordered the suspension of electricity and water fee collection in evacuation zones. The Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) will process refunds or offset payments in the next billing cycle. Residents can seek more information via the PEA Contact Center hotline 1129.
