Transport and Labour Ministers Visit Surin to Evaluate Border Conditions and Deliver Assistance

On July 31, 2025, at 1:30 PM, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, Mr. Suriya Juangroongruangkit, and Labour Minister Mr. Pongkwin Juangroongruangkit traveled to Surin Province to assess the situation along the Thai–Cambodian border. During the visit, they met with military personnel and local residents affected by the recent unrest, offering moral support and distributing relief supplies to evacuees in temporary shelters. Surin Governor Mr. Chamnarn Chuenta, along with officials from the provincial transport and public relations offices, welcomed the delegation.
Mr. Suriya stressed the government’s commitment to supporting communities in the border areas and outlined five key initiatives by the Ministry of Transport to aid ongoing relief efforts:
1. Evacuation and Relocation – Mobilizing public transport, including buses, trucks, and trains, and coordinating with the military for air transport to move residents from high-risk zones to safer locations or designated shelters.
2. Transport Infrastructure Maintenance – Inspecting and urgently repairing transport networks to ensure safety. Warning signs and detour notices are being installed in hazardous areas.
 3. Logistics and Supply Chain Support – Maintaining the steady flow of essential supplies—such as food, water, and medical items—to affected border areas. Alternative routes have been arranged to minimize disruptions.
 4. Information and Coordination – Operating an Emergency Transport Coordination Center with a 24-hour hotline, and providing real-time route updates through websites, apps, and social media channels.
 5. Personnel and Equipment Readiness – Deploying staff from the Department of Highways and Department of Rural Roads, along with heavy machinery and rapid response teams, to assist with emergencies.
The Ministry of Transport reaffirmed its dedication to working closely with all agencies to protect and support residents affected by the border conflict.
