The Department of Foreign Trade (DFT) is set to launch a new seminar series titled “From Trade War to Trade Win,” aimed at equipping Thai entrepreneurs with the knowledge and strategies needed to thrive in the face of ongoing global trade tensions. This initiative is part of the DFT’s broader effort to boost the international competitiveness of Thai businesses.
The first of four seminars will be held on June 30, 2025, at the Novotel Marina Sriracha & Koh Si Chang in Si Racha, Chonburi Province. The event will bring together leading experts in international trade and economics from both the public and private sectors. Among the featured speakers are Mr. Duangarthit Nidhi-u-tai, Deputy Director-General of the DFT, Dr. Visit Limlurcha, Vice Chairman of the Thai Chamber of Commerce, and Dr. Kirida Bhaopichitr, Research Director for International Economics and Development Policy at the Thailand Development Research Institute (TDRI). Their sessions will offer valuable perspectives on navigating trade challenges and identifying new opportunities in the global market.
A key component of the event will be the “SMART DFT: Going Paperless” workshop. This interactive session will introduce participants to the DFT SMART Licensing Systems (DFT SMART-1), which facilitate the processing of export-import permits and product standard certificates. Attendees will also gain hands-on experience with the ROVERs PLUS paperless system for submitting trade-related requests, as well as the SMART Certificate of Origin (SMART C/O) system.
Adding to the program, the seminar will feature an exhibition marking 83 years of the Department of Foreign Trade. It will also offer consultation clinics, where participants can receive personalized advice from DFT officials and representatives from partner agencies.
