Commerce Ministry Takes Steps to Boost Border Trade

The Ministry of Commerce has affirmed it is closely monitoring developments along the Thai–Cambodian border and has introduced several measures to assist businesses and farmers affected by temporary trade disruptions. Minister of Commerce Jatuporn Buruspat has instructed relevant departments and provincial commerce offices to enhance the distribution of agricultural goods and help ease pressure on local economies.
In response, the Department of Internal Trade and provincial offices have held 36 distribution events across seven border provinces, including Ubon Ratchathani, Si Sa Ket, Buri Ram, Sa Kaeo, Chanthaburi, Trat, and Surin. These events helped move over 110,000 kilograms of fruit, generating 5.44 million baht in revenue, while also supporting the sale of poultry, fresh milk, and other local products. The effort provided timely relief for farmers, vendors, and small-scale producers.
To continue addressing market slowdowns, the ministry will hold six additional product exhibitions from July to August in Ubon Ratchathani, Chanthaburi, and Si Sa Ket, directly connecting producers with consumers and improving market access.
Minister Jatuporn has also urged ongoing coordination with national security agencies to ensure timely updates and swift responses. The Department of Internal Trade is overseeing fruit distribution under campaigns such as the Thai Fruits Festival 2025 and is working with Thailand Post to provide free shipping boxes for deliveries. Public and private sector entities are also being encouraged to place direct orders with producers to increase domestic circulation.
