NONG KHAI (NBT WORLD) – The Ministry of Commerce officially launched the “Border Trade Fair in Nong Khai Province” on July 5 to support local businesses and promote cross-border trade with neighboring countries, especially the Lao People’s Democratic Republic. Organized in cooperation with the Department of International Trade Promotion, the event seeks to strengthen economic ties and enhance regional trade opportunities.
The opening ceremony, taking place in the capital district, was presided over by Minister of Commerce Jatuporn Buruspat. Also in attendance were Deputy Minister Chantawit Tantasith, Permanent Secretary Vuttikrai Leewiraphan, Nong Khai Governor Sompop Samitasiri, and Lao Ambassador to Thailand Khamphan Anlavan.
This year’s fair holds special meaning, as it coincides with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Laos. Organizers view it as a timely opportunity to advance cooperation, expand access for small and medium-sized businesses, and foster lasting commercial partnerships.
Organizers stated that the fair is expected to boost local income, support exporters, and enhance Mekong regional trade, aligning with the Ministry of Commerce’s efforts to promote sustainable economic growth and expand international trade.
