Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra has emphasized that tourism is a powerful symbol of Thai-China friendship and long-term cultural ties.
In a post following the “Sawasdee Nihao” campaign launch, Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra described tourism as more than economic exchange. She called it a bridge of warmth and friendship between Thai and Chinese people—one built on shared smiles, culture, and mutual respect.
The Prime Minister noted that 6.7 million Chinese tourists visited Thailand over the past year, reaffirming their position as Thailand’s largest visitor group. She credited this to the combined tourism support of both governments, especially as Thailand declared this year the “Amazing Thailand Grand Tourism and Sports Year.”
She outlined her commitment to boosting infrastructure, enhancing safety, and introducing innovative man-made destinations to elevate tourist experiences. These are not just development strategies, she said, but a promise of care for Chinese tourists and a reflection of the growing bond between the nations.
Every visit to Thailand, she added, should feel happy, safe, and comforting—an experience that reflects Thailand’s readiness to be the destination of choice for genuine relaxation. She concluded by expressing her hope that the 50-year milestone would lay deeper foundations for future unity, describing both countries as “one family” moving toward a shared future.
