Thailand Secures Fresh Rice Export Contracts at TRC 2025

Thailand has secured more than 500,000 tons in new rice export orders following trade discussions at the Thailand Rice Convention 2025 (TRC 2025), held on May 26 in Bangkok. The event, attended by major rice importers from the United States, the Middle East, and Africa, was held with the objective of expanding Thailand’s presence in high-demand global markets.

Minister of Commerce Pichai Naripthaphan met with representatives from key U.S. firms, including OTS McAllister, Sun Lee, and CKK Paradiso, along with other international buyers. Talks centered on Thailand’s strengths in producing high-quality rice, including organic varieties and local specialties such as Riceberry, Hom Nin, and Sangyod. Ready-to-eat rice products were also introduced as emerging choices in the U.S. and Middle Eastern markets.

The gatherings were part of business-matching sessions hosted by the Department of Foreign Trade, aimed at supporting long-term export growth. The government expects new orders from the United States, Iraq, South Africa, and Gulf nations to contribute significantly toward reaching the country’s annual export target.

The government is working to expand agricultural exports and promote Thailand’s status in global food supply networks, with rice remaining central to these efforts through trade engagement and product development to support long-term international demand.
