PM Reviews Water Management at Nong Han Lake

Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra has visited Don Koen Park in Sakon Nakhon province to review progress on the restoration of Nong Han Lake and water management operations in the region. The inspection forms part of her two-day tour ahead of the second Mobile Cabinet Meeting of 2025, scheduled for April 29 in Nakhon Phanom.

During the visit, the prime minister received updates on the local water situation. Sakon Nakhon’s reservoirs currently hold approximately 521 million cubic meters of water, accounting for 45.49 percent of their total capacity. Dry-season farming has surpassed projected targets, and water allocation for agriculture and domestic use is proceeding according to the planned schedule.

Officials also briefed the prime minister on ongoing efforts to manage Nong Han Lake, the second-largest freshwater lake in Thailand. The Nong Han Water Management Task Force is overseeing operations to maintain appropriate water levels and prevent flooding in surrounding communities, in line with established guidelines.

Following her engagements in Sakon Nakhon, Prime Minister Paetongtarn is set to continue her inspection tour in Nakhon Phanom. She will visit the Handicraft Center at Wat Phra That Prasit, part of the Nawa Model project, which is inspired by royal development initiatives.

The upcoming Cabinet session will review strategies for promoting economic and social development, as well as ensuring sustainable water management, across Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, and Mukdahan provinces.
