The Cabinet has approved a 157 billion baht economic stimulus plan to realign national recovery efforts with shifting global conditions, including ongoing trade conflicts, retaliatory tariffs by major economies, and fluctuating international markets. Proposed by the Ministry of Finance, the plan follows recommendations from the Economic Stimulus Policy Committee and will be funded through the central budget for fiscal year 2025.

The stimulus targets four key areas, including infrastructure, tourism, exports, and human capital. Planned infrastructure projects include water system improvements, flood prevention, and upgrades to transportation networks linking cities and production hubs. Tourism funding will support improved visitor facilities, safety measures, and efforts to boost travel to smaller cities. For exports, measures include technology support for agriculture, low-interest loans for small and medium enterprises, and investment in digital systems to strengthen trade and government services.
The package also supports community development through the SML fund and education projects that invest in youth training and skill development. These efforts are expected to generate employment, increase cash flow, and lay the foundations for long-term growth.
Agencies must submit project proposals by the end of May for screening by the Economic Stimulus Committee. Cabinet approval is anticipated in June, with budget disbursement scheduled to begin in July. The Finance Ministry will oversee implementation to ensure accountability and effectiveness.
