Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra is traveling to the southern border provinces of Narathiwat, Yala, and Pattani tomorrow (Jan 16) to address regional challenges and accelerate development projects. Her visit comes in the wake of the car bomb attack in Narathiwat on January 14, which claimed the lives of police officers.
During the visit, Paetongtarn will meet with community leaders, religious figures, and local residents to discuss ways to improve living conditions and regional stability. She will also oversee key development projects, including transportation infrastructure and economic initiatives to boost livelihoods. In Narathiwat, she will attend the “Debt Resolution and Justice Promotion Expo,” inspect the Golok River bridge project, and review progress on the Hat Yai – Su-ngai Kolok double-track railway.
In Yala, the prime minister will visit the Thamavitya Mulniti School to meet with students and religious leaders. In Pattani, she will engage with representatives from the fishing industry and review dredging operations at Pattani Bay. She will also evaluate financial aid programs for local entrepreneurs aimed at alleviating economic hardships and promoting growth.
Paetongtarn expressed her condolences to the families of the victims of the Narathiwat car bomb attack and stressed the need to address security, support the local population, and strengthen the region’s long-term stability.
