Events Launched by DITP to Increase Exports to China and Hong Kong

BANGKOK (NNT) – The Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) has launched a series of initiatives to boost exports to China and Hong Kong in the latter half of 2024. The campaign will focus on enhancing the presence of Thai “soft powers” such as food, fruits, fashion, films, and fairs in these significant markets.
The agency has designated eight offices in China and Hong Kong to lead these promotional activities. A highlight of this outreach will be Thai food festivals, set to take place both on the ground and via popular Chinese social media platforms such as Little Red Book, Weibo, and Dianping. The events showcase Thai dishes that have earned Thai SELECT certification and are timed to coincide with major local events like Qingdao’s beer and Shanghai’s summer festivals.
Further efforts include food promotions in six secondary Chinese cities—Dongguan, Wuhan, Liuzhou, Xiamen, Xi’an, and Ningxia—where Thai fruits such as durian, mangosteen, coconut, pomelo, and longan will be featured in shopping malls, supermarkets, and Thai restaurants.
Previous promotions in May across Kunming, Chongqing, Jiangxi, and Guangzhou have already seen major success, generating 40 million baht in trade value. Building on this momentum, the DITP also announced plans to organize a gala night in Shanghai in August and participate in a pavilion and fashion show in Hong Kong in September.
